Clarence,

This past summer I ordered an impeller kit from you to install on my 1970s era Ariens 3.5 hp snowblower.  Installation was a bit challenging owing to the 4 curved impeller blades on this model snowblower.  It took the better part of an afternoon to install the kit.  I had to wait 4 months to put it to the test.  Last weekend a storm dropped over 8 inches of wet snow in Topeka, KS where I live.  An unusually heavy snow for our area.  I was stunned by the performance improvement.  I only wish I had taken before and after photos. I was giddy with excitement as I watched the snow being thrown from the discharge chute at high velocity.  AMAZING!!  The chute never plugged and I cleared my rather large driveway in less than half the time it took last year from only a 3 inch snowfall!  Even the plowed snow at the end of the driveway was no match for me this year.  When my wife witnessed the incredible plume of snow I was throwing she accused me of purchasing a new snowblower without her permission!   Excellent product!  THANKS!!!

Clarence,
Just got a chance to try out the kit that I installed on to a 5.5 HP Noma 22" snowblower (early 90's vintage).  I have to say that I had a big smile the whole time as the thing was working at least three times better than it ever has.  It used be that it would only throw the snow to the edge of the driveway if I went down the middle.  Now the snow was hitting the trees!  If this kit had not worked out I would have bought a new unit since it was almost painfull to use before.  The installation was mechanically easy
(with a long bit) but does take a while to drill all the holes and tighten up the stop nuts.  It seems so simple that it is hard to believe they don't build them this way in the first place.
Thanks,
Greg, in CT

I have just used my 20 year old snowblower which is a ??  5 HP x  20 inch with a Tecumseh engine for the first time since I installed your kit.  I was able to install the kit in slightly under 2 hours and
this was because I had to cut the metal pieces down from 4 inches to about 3 1/2 inches. The difference was incredible.  I used it yesterday with a mixture of fresh snow with some rain falling.  Works like a new machine.

Clarence,

Your kit is the real deal!  I have had a 5" kit installed on my 78 Bolens 12 hp thrower the last four years.   I am in coastal Ipswich Mass.   We get every type of snow imaginable in some storms.....your impeller kit allows my machine to move it all....FAR! (30-35'!)   The kit brought new life to my machine.   It is best money I have ever put into a snow thrower....   I just purchased a repacement set for my machine and a set for my dad's brand new machine.   Now he will be able to move heavy wet and slushy snow too!

THANKS for your simple and effective invention!

Hi Clarence!

I purchased your impeller kit about 4 years ago and I'm just getting around to writing you.  I'm always reminded, however, every time I use my 2000 Craftsman 5HP snowblower.  It really is now a snowTHROWER!  This winter was somewhat mild, but we had one storm that dropped perfect (as we used to say when I was a kid) throwing snow: great for snowballs!  My typical New York City lot is such that I have about 50' of driveway to the street where the plow goes by every hour to block the end.  So I used to have to make about 5-6 passed throwing the snow a little bit further down to the end (meaning a 3" snowfall would leave me with 15-18" at the end of the driveway).  Now with your kit I can make 2-3 passes throwing the snow about 25-30 feet!  It's so much fun now that I look forward to the really heavy storms!  I wish I had a picture to show you, but during that perfect throwing storm I was able to throw the snow not only 30' to a hit a telephone pole, but I hit a street sign on that pole that's mounted about 20' up!  And the arc was coming down to hit it, too!  It made my neighbors 10 HP Ariens look like it had a prostate problem!  Unbelievable!

The installation on the Craftsman was atypical because of it rectangular shaped impeller chute, so I had to pull the impeller shaft out slightly to install.  Plus my impeller blades are slightly curved at the ends.  But taking my time it was done in about 3 hours.  When I first started it up it made an unusual whirring sound which I soon realized was the kit literally pushing the air up the chute!  I mounted the kit with such close tolerance that there was no gap!  A little bog down on the engine, but that just forced me to do the tune up on the engine that I had been avoiding.  After wearing in slightly my blower still whirrs (that's so cool!) AND throws slush AND pumps water!!!  Again, UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Thanks for a great SIMPLE solution!!!

Hello,

I purchased your impeller kit last year, and installed it this year on my sears rider with a snowblower attachment, I bought the whole kit of four paddles but I needed only two for my machine. They work great. The chute no longer plugs up when the snow

is wet and throws the snow about twice as far as it did before; I would recommend this product to anyone.

Hi Clarence,

Here are my comments on the impeller kit I received from you on January 11, 2007. It took me 3 hours to install it because I had to bend each metal retainer to fit the curved impeller. I had a lot of trimming of the rubber and am satisfied that I took the extra time to do this. The impeller is more efficient because of my efforts. Thanks for shipping it so quickly.

I installed a snowblower impeller kit from Clarence’s Small Engines in just over 3 hours. This is a cleverly designed modification for dual stage snowblowers that improves their throwing capacity by about 50%. Ordinarily, it should take about an hour to install. However, my 30 year old Ariens has curved impeller blades that took longer. The impeller blades had a space of 1/8 to 1/4 inch. The kit has reduced the space to about 1/16 inch. This is enough to make a vast difference in impeller effectiveness. The modification should last several years, depending on how much the snowblower is used.  It is well worth the money for anyone who wants extra throwing capacity on their snowblower. My machine used to throw snow about 10 - 12 feet. Now, it will throw snow about 20 feet and enables the machine to work in wet snow conditions that some machines cannot handle.

 Clarence:

I have an early 1980’s Sears Craftsman 5hp/22in that I have used since I was a kid.  I am now married and have a house of my own.  My father finally convinced me to take it after a lot of persuasion as it was taking up room in his garage.  I knew from experience that it is practically useless here in Colorado – especially when the snow is even slightly wet.  That is why he bought a new more powerful model.  My plan was to trade the old machine in for something new.

I cannot afford a new machine right now, so I went searching for answers and found your site.  I bought and installed your kit last week – just in time for our first wet spring snow here in Colorado

I was shocked when I started on the driveway.  I was throwing very heavy, very wet snow 25 feet with no problem with my old 5hp model.  No drag on the engine - all of your claims on the website were 100% accurate.  No clogged chute.

I had a huge grin on my face when I drove by and saw the guy down the street trying to use his 8hp Ariens as he struggled to get any snow to blow out.

Best $25 I have ever spent.  I can’t wait for the next storm.

Thanks.

Clarence, I installed it on an older blower and the results were everything you said, my buddy bought the blower off me, he is having great results, your product works great thanks ,

Hi Clarence,

I just came in from using the snowblower. We just had 24" of snow in Northern Massachusetts. I was able to throw the snow further than  I have ever been. There is no ice build up in the impeller housing anymore. After you get the first rubber on the rest are a piece of cake.

Clarence,
I installed the kit on my 10hp Troybilt and makes a huge on difference on the light dry snow and the slush. I used the blower yesterday for the first time this year and the distance that my blower could throw this light snow compared to the big John Deere w/tracks that the guy
across the street has was almost funny. The installation wasn't the easiest since I had to find a drill bit long enough to drill the holes in the impellers but I got them eventually. Thanks for a great product.

Well, we just had over 13 inches of snow here in Kenosha. The impeller kit worked great. I think the blower throws snow 25% to 30% further. Installation was straight forward and easier than I expected.
Lance

The snowblower I have was made by AMF and it was found in the trash. I put a new motor on it and it worked OK. but the chute kept getting clogged. After I installed the impeller kit, after some cutting, the chute has yet to clog and it throws the snow farther. I would recommend this kit to anyone who has an old machine as it brougt mine back to life.

Also, today we had the big snowfall, 21 inches, and the machine worked fine.

The installation took about 45 minutes. Just make sure that you tell your customers to use a sharp drill.

 Clarence,

I Finally got the chance to try out my snowblower after installing the Impeller Kit. All I can say is "WOW",. I can't believe the difference it made on my deere 726. Saved me the price of a new machine.

Thanks George

 Clarence,

Sorry I did not reply sooner, it's been a very busy year. In answer to your questions. The kit was fairly easy to install. I had bought a previously owned John Deere 1032 snowblower last year and was very disappointed in the snow blowing performance of the machine. The local dealer told me the older machines did not move snow that well. After installing your kit the snow throwing ability doubled and my driveway clearing time has been cut in half. I would highly recommend your kit to anyone whose machine has excessive clearance between the second stage impeller and the chute.

Clarence,

Thanks for the follow up.  Yes, I did install your impeller kit at the end of last winter and used it once on a very small snowfall.  I was impressed with the difference and was actually looking forward to a larger snowfall to see how the kit would fare under those conditions.  Well, I had to wait until just a few weeks ago to get that larger snowfall and was thrilled with the results.  I did not have to stop even once to clear the discharge chute on my 30+ year-old, 4 hp Ariens snow blower.  I was able to clear our driveway in less than half the time it used to take.  The throwing distance was much improved and as a result, I didn't have to throw the same snow multiple times to get it off the driveway. The installation was not very difficult , although I had to "shave" the leading edge of the rubber blades to they would turn freely in the impeller housing.  A few sprays of WD-40 helped to get things moving.  Now that I've used the kit for a few snowfalls, the rubber blades have conformed to the shape of the impeller housing and there is no problem at all. I found your product as I was searching for a new snow blower because I was so frustrated at how my machine was performing.  For a fraction of what a new machine would have cost, you impeller kit has breathed new life into my old snow blower.  The snowblower's only problem was its design flaw, which your impeller kit corrects simply, inexpensively and very effectively.

You may certainly post my comments on your website.

Dear Clarence,
I installed your Snowblower Impeller Kit last year (late in the snow season) and found it took me about an hour to do.  It was not at all difficult, despite the machine I was installing it on (an old 1970s vintage Montgomery Ward 7HP snow thrower).  As a test of the kit, I took it outside to remove thawing snow (about six inches deep at the time).  I was amazed!  The chute never jammed, and it actually threw the slush about 30 feet or more!  This year I have used the snow thrower twice so far - two storms, each more than a foot of snow.  It is working perfectly.
This kit certainly breathed new life into a snow thrower I was ready to
"retire".  A great idea!  Thanks again Clarence, for a great product!

Hi Clarence,
I actually installed it the day you sent it to me last winter.  It works beautifully.  Personally, I found the install to be quite simple.  Anyone that can drill a hole should be able to put this on.  I purchased an Ariens 724 that was about 6 years old but only used a handfull of times. It worked well before, but as advertised, your kit added the extra distance to the throwing capacity of the blower.  It was well worth the $25.  Feel free to contact me or use my testimonial in your advertising.  Thanks again for the product.

Yes, I did install it right at the end of the season last year and only got to test it with some "leftover" snow along the drive way. I had no problems with the install, I have a Troy-Bilt 8Hp 26" inch blower, one of the last ones made by Troy-Bilt under the expired Garden Way company. It has the steel blower chute instead of the plastic one. It also has the welded up auger housing insted of the "newer" bolted together job.
I got to use it once this year so far on a small (8" inch) snowfall. I find I have to adjust my angle of throw quite a bit because it tosses snow so much further than before. With the added graphite coating, I don't have to run the engine at full power, except for really heavy snow.
I think your kit is a good product and improves the snow throwers performance by about 25% easy.
Steve

Clarence,

Received the kit and it installed without a problem, Took some effort but my snowblower now blows snow and has improved it's output by 90% Your product really works and it turned a poor design into a working machine.

Thanks again.

Clarence,
I recently purchased a impeller kit. I am very impressed. I installed them a day after a 18" snow storm. I wish they were on before the storm. After I installed them they doubled the distance the snow was thrown. Then 2 days later we got about an 11/2" with an 1" of rain that turned it into slush. I figured this would be the ultimate test. I was skeptical to say the least. But when I pushed the machine out and went down the driveway and it was blowing slush and water as far as it was blowing snow before I installed it. I am sold!!! I have been telling everyone I know about them. Thanks for a great product.

Hi Clarence,

With a major winter storm due to hit NJ today (20" possible) I had to get my butt in gear & install your kit. It took about 45 minutes & was relatively simple. I had a much clearer head today as opposed to the hectic day when I had tried installation back in January. I ended up trimming the "paddles" to 2 1/4" total length on my MTD model 611D. I didn't want to put them on the angled part of the impeller blade - was this correct? Regardless, I fired her up upon completing the installation - I was shooting snow OVER my 10' high shed and almost as high as a 35' pine tree in my back yard! My wife wondered what the hell I was doing!! SHE even commented how well the machine worked now! I have to tip my hat off to you sir , you have come up with a GREAT PRODUCT here & wish you much success with it! I will be posting a follow up on the Garden Web page & hope this helps. I am VERY satisfied! Thanks for your offers of assistance also, but I got it figured out & the results were fantastic!
Kindest Regards!
Marty

Hi Clarence,
I was waiting for snow before I contacted you. We had two storms of 2" to 4". Living along the coast these storms are the usual snow, sleet, and freezing rain combination. The kit has doubled the distance that my 40+ yr. old Ariens Sno-thro can shoot the snow. I now can clear across a 4 car wide driveway. clogging has become a thing of the past. Increasing speed the chute is self-cleaning. I do three driveways now in the time it took me to do one.
I thought the instructions were well laid out. The use of a 12" drill bit made it a lot easier to work with the angle of the chute and impeller blades. Since my impeller housing was out of round and the narrow part was opposite the chute opening, I found it faster and easier to install at the chute opening, turn the impeller and cut the excess (about 1\16" to 1\8") from 3 of the 4 offending blades with a pair of sheet metal shears.I feel the kit was money and time well spent. It saved me $1000.00,at the time I was shopping for a new unit. The improvement has been noticed by my neighbor, whose driveway I have been clearing due to an injury he sustained. He owns a 10 hp newer Ariens and doesn't feel it performs as well.
I highly recommend this product.

Thank you,

Hi!  My name is John Avery. I had Clarence install the blower retrofit kit to my snowblower and WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Now it throws the snow better than it did when it was Brand New. It has been eight seasons now and the blower is still going strong.

 Thanks Clarence.

 Yours sincerely

John Avery

Clarence,

Hi, I have installed the kit. It was pretty easy if you have the right tools and ability. It has improved the throwing distance like you said it would.

Thanks again. Bill Godshall East Hartland, Connecticut

Well Clancy I love the upgrade to my blower. This is my first snow blower, it's
an older Ariens 8hp I bought at a local action for $115.00, did a major tune-up
and installed your kit because it's a 1980's model I liked the concept of the
kit.
The holes on the metal tab's and where they needed to go made it very very tight
for the locking nuts very tight .for ease of installation I give it a [ 2 ]
1 is very easy 5 not so easy .

Hi Clarence,

I have installed your kit. In fact I installed it on one of my single stage blowers and it improved it just like new. I know it is intended for a dual stage but my single stage was in need of some kind of help. It was very easy to install for me, but being a maintenance engineer I'm used to working with kind of thing. Thanks again for the help.

I recently installed an Impeller Kit installed on my snow blower and it made quite a difference. I have had to clear the driveway three times since I had the kit installed and I cannot believe how much farther it throws the snow. My snow blower is three years old and with this Impeller Kit on it has never handled the snow better. I would recommend this kit to anyone.

Yours truly K. LaFleur

Hi Clarence, I received the kits and have installed them both...one was for my dad which he put on the snow thrower he has attached to his garden tractor...as there was quite a gap between the auger and the chute the kit made a huge difference and he is very impressed...the install was very straight forward and only 2 blades needed to be install.... I installed it on my 6hp snow blower...installation was a little more difficult as I needed to put on all 4 pieces on the impeller. It was a little tight to get in and do the work but not impossible...it took a little under 2 hours and the result was a slight but noticeable improvement, not near as good as my dad's but then again I only had about 1/8" clearance to begin with.... anyways we are both happy and would recommend it to anyone handy with tools...a great product, best of luck.

Scott B. Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Thanks again for the kit. It has been installed with very little effort and it has improved the snow throwing ability of my machine considerably.

Thanks once again.

Jim Cuming Owens Sound, Ontario

I installed the kit.  It was pretty easy.  I may not be a good example, since I am an engineer and also have a complete welding and machine shop.  I had previously relined the impeller housing, but still had 3/8 in clearance between the blade tips and the housing.  I was going to weld to repair the tips, until I saw your ad.  The kit worked fine.  I chose to use thicker steel pieces and I needed to bend them to fit the inside of the curved blades.

In a very heavy wet snow the machine (Ariens 1032 1976 model) worked much better!

Hello Clarence,
Well Clarence, I just finished plowing my large driveway, my front walk, and the front walks of 4 of my neighbors in about the same as it used to take to do just my own. I was able to plow the whole thing in a higher gear without
the snow clogging up in the discharge chute, or backing up in front of the snow blower.   I just left positive feedback on ebay.
 Ralph Girard, Oak Park Illinois

Hi Clarence,
Yes, I installed the kit right after it arrived, took about 2 hours.  We
had rain which turned to snow so there was a lot of slush.  The blower went
through the slush and blew it away without problems.  When I got to the
street and there was no slush to blow the chute plugged up.  However, I just
plowed ahead with the blower running and it blew the ice out and handled the
slush without problems.  Since that time I have used it to blow snow up to a
foot deep and it is like I have a new snowblower.  Thanks, I love the
results.

John Shanfelt, North Royalton Ohio

Clarence, I did install the kit and it works great!!!! Makes a big
difference in the distance it throws snow. It was a pain to install but well
worth it nice job.
Marty Schroeder, Kremmling Colorado

Hi Clarence, Yes I did install it a while back. I had thought of making
something just like it out of rubber also. I had about 1/2" of space between
the paddle and the housing. Now it blows snow 2 times as good as before. Guess
it did the trick! I have a case k-84 single stage blower. Thanks for asking!

Manuel Marangio, Easton, PA

Clarence,
I installed the kit in August so that I would be ready for the snow.  No
problems with the installation.  One blade was too long but it didn't take
long for the blower to wear it into shape.
Early December we had a heavy snowfall and I put the kit to the test.  It
worked just as I had anticipated when I received the kit.  My machine is an
older model and the impeller kit really helped make it do the job as it
should.  I am very pleased.  Thanks again.
Steve Patterson, London, Ontario

Clarence,

The kit was not that hard to install, and two major snow storms and the operation of my snowblower seems improved and not one clog. Before I started the installation I went to Home Depot and bought a Drill Dr .to make sure my bits stayed sharp.

Thanks, Arnie Tobias, Shrub Oak NY

Clarence
Just got to use my Craftsman 5hp snowblower for the first time since
installing your impeller kit today Dec 29th.  Practically doubled the
throwing distance and rarely plugged.  Easy install with drill and hand
tools.
Thanks
Brian Bowers, Greenacres, WA

I have installed the kit.  It was pretty simple to install and seems to be quite effective, although I have only had the opportunity to use the snowblower once since the install.
Thanks, Charles S Blanchard, Readfield, ME

Clarence,
Thanks for the note...  I was waiting to send you a note to tell you just how good this kit is!!!  I installed it before the first storm a few weeks ago.  The snow was a light ,so it was hard to tell just how good the kit was.  On the second storm it was a wet snow, and what a difference. I was able to throw the wet snow 20 feet off my driveway, this is something my old Ariens  sno-throw was NOT able to do before.  The only problem that I found was that after clearing my driveway I put the snowblower in the carport, a few hours later that night I tried to clear the driveway again and the impeller had frozen to the housing.  Now I keep it in the garage and it's fine.  In all you sell a great product that well worth the money.

 Thanks

 Mark
